Today I turn thirty, and I turn 18 weeks pregnant too.
Now, pause for a second.
Where have all those years gone by? Have you ever look back at your Facebook photos and wondered how you’ve change? Where as this fun-loving, carefree, thrill seeker gone to?
Many things have changed but I do love the change, getting married and starting a family certainly did change my lifestyle entirely, and that is a story is for another day. More than that, I love being married, I love being married to my husband, having someone I can share my thoughts and my life with. This morning, he reminded me that his future was also mine and I think that’s the beauty of marriage, how two individual lives tangle up together into one. No longer do we live separate lives, but as one, building our family culture and values, bit by bit, little by little for the next generation.
The one thing that hasn’t changed much for me is values. Values, that has been brought up with me, and for that I’m deeply thankful and grateful for my family. I think the easiest examples all through these years, are my values in regards to marriage, family and religion. And hopefully, these that I hold dear to would be passed down to my children.
I don’t have a life lesson, just pockets of thoughts today as I turn thirty. Reflecting a little on life today, the kind of person I was and the kind I would like to be for the next thirty years.
Sometimes, the media focuses a lot on teaching us to be game changers, to think big, to dream big, to be SOMEONE. While they are all great messages, i’m reminded of how life would be so colourless without friends and family. Across the years of moving and settling, I probably met more new people in my life than ever and I’m so amazed and thankful for the people I’ve crossed lives with and none of us would be here if not for each other.
So in the midst of taking challenges with strength and wisdom, taking risk carefully and running the rat race, don’t forget to help someone along the way.
